Composting at Home

Do you feel like you can't compost at home because you either live in an apartment or have a small backyard?? Think again! Meet the countertop composter from Karfo

Currently we are growing food on a small village lot with a sloped backyard. Having a large compost pile is just not in the cards for me right now. This small appliance allows me to compost just about anywhere. I have had it on my counter, my back porch and in the basement.

What I love about this product is the ease of use, I am able to take all my kitchen scraps from the day, put in the Karfo Ecostar 1, hit a button and walk away. In just a few hours I have reduced my kitchen waste and turned it into compost for my garden. I do not have a need for huge compost pile for the current size of my garden so adding a bit of compost to the garden beds every few days is perfect for me.

Anything that you eat can be placed inside, kitchen scraps like carrot peels, onion tops, the bag of salad that went bad in the fridge, crusts of bread, egg shells, basically if its a byproduct of your kitchen put in the Karfo Ecostar 1

Once you have loaded her up, choose either the short cycle (2.5 hours) or the long cycle (5 hours) hit the button and walk away.

The interior metal container is easy to wipe down and there is a self cleaning mode, and the carbon filter reduces all odor from the food scraps.

I have noticed that if I put a lot of "juicy" things (tomatoes, peaches, etc.)  in the compost will come out quite wet so I like to add a good mix of dry things like leaves to balance it out or just run a cycle again and that takes care of that.

Overall I just really love how easy it is to take care of the food waste for our family of 5, if you have little kids you know they don't eat the things on their plate so being able to utilize the food rather than putting it in the garbage is a win!

If you are looking to compost at home, or just reduce food waste I'd recommend this to anyone!
